Inscribed by the original owner, Miss Mary Baker, No.82, High Street, High Town, Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
Mary Baker's parents ran a private school for young ladies at No. 82 High Street. They had seven daughters, none of whom ever married. By the time the 1861 Census was published, the parents had died, and the school was closed. Mary had previously been recorded as a Governess - in 1864, when she had this book, she was recorded as an 'annuitant', as were her sisters.
She died in 1891, aged 75, and is buried with her family in Worfield Churchyard.
